Conmebol has made the decision to send Racing fans who purchased non-member tickets for Cruzeiro to the "Academy" stand in order to avoid conflicts and ensure their safety. This move came after purchases from Argentina were recorded for the non-member sector of the Brazilian club. Argentine supporters, aware of the situation, created a WhatsApp group to stay united in the stands and look out for one another. In light of this situation, Conmebol authorities determined that Racing fans who purchased non-member tickets for Cruzeiro would be able to sit in the stand assigned to the Argentine club to prevent possible confrontations.
On its part, Cruzeiro only sold 7,000 of the 12,000 available tickets, while Racing supporters quickly sold out their tickets. The fans and members of Racing organized themselves to avoid hostile situations as they had purchased tickets for the South sector, designated for Cruzeiro fans. These supporters requested the institution and Conmebol to assign them a specific area to ensure their safety, proposing the possibility of a shared corner with Racing fans or neutrals.
The Racing fans quickly sold out the 12,000 tickets available for members, while Cruzeiro, which started sales days earlier, has not yet sold more than 40% of its assigned tickets, with 10% purchased by Racing supporters. Due to the potential for violence, Racing fans urged the institution to manage a guaranteed separation in the stands to prevent possible incidents. Through a statement, they expressed their concern for the safety of the fans and the importance of preventing tragedies that could be avoided with appropriate measures.
